History the battle of saragarhi

Afghans couldn't last even for 9 days. Now imagine how heroic our ancestors must have been who faced Taliban from 636 to 1947 

This war is considered the biggest battle in Indian history. In this, Sikh soldiers fought with Pathans till their last breath to save Saragarhi fort. In this, 21 soldiers of 36 Sikh regiments killed 10,000 Afghan soldiers.

The historic war of Saragarhi was fought between the British Indian Army and the Afghan Army on 2 September 1897 This war took place in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, which is now in Pakistan. The special thing about the war was that there were 21 Sikhs in the fourth battalion of Sikh Paltan in the British Indian Army and they were attacked by 10 thousand Afghan soldiers. This battalion was led by Havaldar Ishar Singh.

Ishar Singh did not give up in front of 10 thousand Afghan soldiers but decided to fight till death. This is why this war is considered one of the greatest end wars in military history. Two days after the war between British Indian soldiers and Afghan soldiers, the second Indian army had re-occupied the spot. Hereafter, now in the memory of this war, 12 September is celebrated as Saragadhi Day.

At 9 am, about 10 thousand Afghan army indicated to reach Saragadhi Post. According to Gurmukh Singh, Col. Houthton was reported to have been attacked in Lockhart Fort but Col. Houthton could not send immediate aid to Saragadhi. Showing their bravery in such a way, all the soldiers made a historic decision to fight till their last breath.

Bhagwan Singh was first injured in this war and then Lal Singh. It is said that both Lal Singh and Jiva Singh soldiers brought the body of Bhagwan Singh inside the post. After this the enemies broke down a part of the surrounding wall.

Afghan army many times tempted Indian soldiers to surrender. It is said to have tried twice to open the main door but failed. After that the wall broke down and a fierce face-to-face fight happened.

Showing bravery, Ishar Singh ordered his soldiers to step back so that the fight can continue. While all the other soldiers went inside, one soldier was killed.

Gurmukh Singh, who was telling war news with Colonel Houthton, was the last Sikh protector. Attacked with fire circles to kill them. Afghans captured the fort on the night of September 13-14 after they attacked Gulistan Fort after destroying Saragarhi. After this he admitted that 180 of his soldiers were killed and many were injured in the war with 21 Sikhs. It is said that the rescue team found the bodies of 600 soldiers there.

All the fighters including Havldar Ishar Singh got heroic in this war. However, after this, the English soldiers had re-occupied the fort.
